What is Sound Therapy and Reiki
Everything has a vibration and a frequency. Everything is Energy. Using sound to heal and for relaxation has been around since the beginning of time. Sound weaves into the Body, Mind, Spirit and Soul. The tones are absorbed deep within our cellular structure and when you hear them the brain sends unique messages to different parts of the body, organs and muscles and a deep sense of calm can occur. Deep relaxation is felt in all parts. The sound allows our mind to be still. Combining sound with Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) balances the bodies energy.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a natural healing energy activated by intention. It works on every level, not just the physical. The practice of Reiki is an original method of healing, developed by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan early in the 20th century.
The Japanese word Reiki means Universal Energy. Eastern medicine has always recognised and worked with this energy, which flows through all living things and is vital to well-being; known as 'ki' in Japan, 'chi' in China and 'prana' in India. Acupuncture, Tai Chi and Yoga are also based on the free-flow of this energy in a person.
Reiki is non-invasive, gentle yet powerful and may be used with confidence alongside orthodox healthcare. As such, it expands treatment options. Reiki is not, however, an alternative to conventional medicine. You should therefore always consult a GP about your medical conditions and disclose that you are receiving complementary therapy sessions. Reiki's gentle energy is easily adapted to most medical conditions and may be used safely by people of all ages, including the newborn, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly in any situation.
What Happens During a Reiki Session?
A Reiki treatment is non-diagnostic, non-interventionist, non-manipulative and no pressure is applied. A session is usually carried out with the recipient lying down, or sitting, in a comfortable and peaceful environment. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki energy passes easily through all materials, including plaster casts.
The practitioner places their hands gently on or over the body; there is no massage or manipulation. Reiki can also be given over a distance.
Reiki may be experienced as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations, or nothing at all.
A session usually lasts half to one hour in duration.
The practitioner will take a short case history prior to discussing treatment options. A treatment plan will be discussed and agreed with you, and reviewed as necessary. This will always be subject to your own preferences, and can be changed at any time in line with progress.

Our bodies are made up of electromagnetic energy and the flow of this energy affects our well-being. The seven major Chakras are responsible for directing and distributing this energy throughout our body. When the Chakras spin at a perfect frequency, the body radiates optimal health; emotions are balanced and we enjoy a deep sense of peace.
Many of us however lead unhealthy lifestyles – high stress, insufficient sleep, food on the run and this shifts our Chakras out of balance or blocks them entirely. Our energy is lowered and we do not have the resources within to fight back. This disrupts our body’s energy flow and leaves us vulnerable to illness, feeling under par with a loss of emotional equilibrium. By using reiki and sound you clear the blocks in your body, and bring harmony and energy to the organs, muscles and nerves of the body allowing you to enjoy a fuller sense of living today!
